Storage technology
Dead capital lies dormant in the warehouses of companies. The prince who awakens it – i.e. sets it free again for the company’s activities – only slowly gets through to it. Software, it is said, is intended to put a stop to cost-driving inventories. And it has already done so, as stocks have declined in recent years.
There are plenty of programs that network and control day-to-day operations, production and the management of all processes associated with the company’s activities. What is missing, according to management consultants Abels und Kemmner, are programs that optimize inventory management. The consultants are certain that hardly any company readjusts important parameters that determine its existence manually.
The program, which can be set up on existing ERP systems and takes over the optimization of the relevant parameters, comes from the think tank and programming department of the medium-sized consulting company. It supplements what the ERP, merchandise management and PPS systems lack. Not only to the delight of the consultants. Some companies have already marveled at the savings potential, which is between 15 and 25 percent. After all, the figures are not just gray theory, but values determined from 34 consulting customers.
