Short & sweet: STU analysis

The STU analysis structures the materials used in the company according to the number of their sources of demand. S articles have only one dominant source of demand, whereas U articles have many. The STU characteristic is important when deciding on the disposition and warehousing strategy for an item.

Our tip: Even if demand is constant, plan S-items more carefully than U-items to minimize the risk of scrapping them later.
