A simple graphic has been haunting my thoughts for weeks: A D superimposed on a C; both drawn with a loose hand on a flipchart. What looks so harmless has explosive significance.
The graphic is intended to illustrate how the need for qualifications in companies will change drastically as a result of increasing automation.
My colleague, Prof. Sames, drew this curve a few weeks ago at a working group meeting. It is easy to understand what he was trying to say: Today, the qualification structure in a typical production company looks like a D.
