Abels & Kemmner calls for participation in working group for scheduling and production control

Herzogenrath/Aachen, September 01, 2020 – Abels & Kemmner, together with the training provider AWF, is calling for participation in the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Disposition und Fertigungssteuerung” (working group for scheduling and production control), which is currently being founded. The aim of this cooperative and jointly financed working group is to enable its members to master the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis. To this end, it is necessary to fully exploit the existing potential in scheduling and production control in the companies. This area accounts for 30 to 40% of a company’s costs. Making these expenses even more productive is therefore of central importance for a company’s success – especially for companies that find themselves in a challenging economic situation due to Covid-19. The new working group offers its members the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from other companies in person and to learn from each other’s successes and failures and to gain new ideas for mastering the challenges in an uncertain environment even better. Interested parties are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the new working group free of charge and without obligation. It will take place on September 23, 2020. Prof. Dr. Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Götz-Andreas Kemmner, a leading supply chain management expert in the German-speaking world, will be the technical chair.

In my experience, there is no better and more cost-effective approach than working groups to start the innovation engine and continuously generate inspiration to improve day-to-day business. By taking part in the working group, participants gather new ideas, broaden their horizons, avoid operational blindness and build up a network of like-minded people. Companies benefit from the organizational and technical improvements that occur automatically“, explains the moderator and coach of the new working group, Prof. Dr. Götz-Andreas Kemmner. “Especially in economically challenging times, a good understanding of the interrelationships and methods of production control and scheduling is essential in order to coordinate production and procurement with confidence.”

The topics to be discussed are determined by the participants of the working group themselves. They can range from logistics strategy, the right scheduling methods and parameters and modern scheduling processes such as DDMRP to inventory reduction or reduction of delivery times and very specific detailed questions. Members also have the opportunity to discuss the direction and design of efficient production control and scheduling and to exchange information on current trends and developments. In addition, the proven concept of the working group provides time to spontaneously discuss acute and current issues of the individual members and develop solutions.

Target group

The new “Scheduling and Production Control” working group is aimed at managers and specialists from the fields of production planning and control, scheduling, supply chain management, logistics controlling, production management, process management, line managers from production and assembly, production planning and control, work preparation and workshop managers who are tasked with or interested in significantly improving the quality of their logistics processes and exchanging information on improved design options and methods.

The non-binding and free inaugural meeting of the WG will take place online for reasons of efficiency and health. The subsequent number of participants will be limited to 20 companies. An early investment commitment therefore pays off.
