On 11. and October 12, the first meeting of the DISKOVER working group (DISKOVER AG for short) took place at STO SE & Co. KGaA in Stühlingen/Baden-Württemberg. The working group is headed by Dr. Bernd Reineke and the consultants from Abels & Kemmner. Participants are experts from a wide range of companies in the fields of supply chain management, purchasing, scheduling and logistics, all of whom work with the DISKOVER APS and inventory management system.
The aim of DISKOVER AG is to deal with a key topic from supply chain management at each conference, to discuss cross-company approaches and to develop concepts and solutions. Each participating company in the working group is the host once and has the opportunity to introduce itself and discuss company-specific processes and problems.
After a brief round of introductions, the host, Julia Berger, presented STO SE & Co. KGaA as the first host. The medium-sized family business manufactures products and systems for facades, interiors, paints, glazes and floor coatings. Internationally, it is represented by 50 operating subsidiaries in 37 countries, 65 sales partners and 33 production sites worldwide.
After the theoretical insights, the participants of the working group were given a tour of the production and logistics center. The company presentation was rounded off with a visit to the “STO Info Factory”, where the history of the company is illustrated and the products are presented.
After the participants had gained an in-depth impression of the company and its processes, Ms. Berger presented the planning and control of scheduling as well as the rule settings of the DISKOVER planning software used on a daily basis. The set of rules in DISKOVER is the central unit with which the planning and scheduling processes are automated and which thus relieves the employees in purchasing and scheduling of a large amount of work and enables greater efficiency in day-to-day business.
The working group was able to round off the evening with a cozy, communal dinner in an original, Baden-Württemberg inn, getting to know each other better personally and also exchanging professional ideas.
The second day began with a presentation by Tobias Brasch from Abels & Kemmner on the main topic of the conference, “Regulations and master data management”. In the subsequent workshops, the use of formulas in rules was explained and practiced using case studies, and “Rule-based changes to batch size increments” were discussed.
The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for 28.11./29.11. at Hama GmbH & Co. KG in Monheim (Bavaria), where participants can look forward to the main topic “Inventory optimization with DISKOVER”
