The StarragHeckert Group, manufacturer of 5-axis machine tools for the production of turbine blades, is experiencing growth that has exceeded all expectations thanks to its cutting-edge technology. Thanks to extremely high incoming orders, the focus is therefore currently on short lead times, high adherence to delivery dates and efficient capacity utilization in order to reliably serve customers. The aim is to reposition internal logistics and to take over not only technological leadership but also logistical leadership. Consultants from Abels & Kemmner and FAST Logistik-Consulting Schweiz GmbH, Zug, will provide technical support for this strategic task.
From forecasting/replenishing to MRP II gross and net requirements planning through to workshop management and procurement, all processes will be “logistically positioned” over the next few months. Systematic methods such as logistical characteristic curve and throughput diagram techniques are used for this purpose, and production control is supported by capacity scheduling according to the principle of load-oriented order release. Using the intelligent assistance system DISKOVER SCO, the processes are subjected to permanent monitoring and production controlling and the leading SAP system is thus continuously optimized and updated. Task forces at the Chemnitz/D and Rorschacherberg/CH sites are working intensively on the goals of significantly reducing the overall lead time, increasing on-time delivery reliability and the degree of delivery readiness and introducing market-synchronous, “low-stock” production.
