Short & sweet: Lot size

The batch size is the number of identical parts that are produced in a common work step or purchased in a common order. At the very least, batch sizes above the basic requirement during the replenishment period can lead to significant increases in stock.

Our tip:

Batch size optimization processes are often used to set batch sizes that are too high. Practical experience shows: The total cost curve around the supposedly optimum batch size is often very flat. Even if batch sizes are halved or doubled, the total costs change only slightly.
