Congratulations!
With effect from October 1, 2002, Dr. Abels was appointed professor at the Engineering Science Centre (IWZ) of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. He teaches “Production Planning and Control” at the Faculty of Vehicle Systems and Production.
His appointment is the confirmation of his optimization concepts for industrial practice, which he intends to implement in the future as part of his work at Abels & Kemmner. As managing partner of our management consultancy, he has demonstrated in countless projects that the planning and control systems in use are often not particularly efficient because basic methods and systems for increasing efficiency are not applied sufficiently. There is great potential for improvement here – both in the use of PPS and ERP systems and in the future with integrated SCM systems.
Dr. Abels studied mechanical engineering and economics at RWTH Aachen University. In 1990, he completed his doctorate at the Research Institute for Rationalization at the RWTH (Hackstein/Eversheim) on a new methodology for optimizing inventory management. From 1990 to 1993, he was head of the Industrial Logistics department at the same institute. Dr. Abels has been the managing partner of Abels & Kemmner Unternehmensberatung GmbH since 1993. The focus of his work here is also the optimization of business processes (supply chain streamlining) and the use of IT to support planning and control tasks in the supply chain.
