In addition to the minimum lot size, the maximum lot size is another guard rail when calculating an order or production quantity. If a lot-sizing procedure determines a lot size that is above the maximum lot size, the MRP lot size is limited to the maximum lot size. The maximum lot size is intended to ensure that a production or procurement quantity does not exceed a technically possible or economically desirable value.
Our tip: Check the maximum lot sizes at least twice a year to ensure that they are not set too low.
