Herzogenrath/Aachen, 08.01.2020 – The Abels & Kemmner Group announces the foundation of the new subsidiary Abels & Kemmner GmbH Supply Chain Engineers. The focus of the consulting services is on the fullest possible automation of supply chain management using mathematical methods and processes. The Abels & Kemmner Group – which in addition to its consulting business also includes the subsidiaries SCT GmbH (development of supply chain management software) and AWF GmbH (training of operational practitioners) – is thus responding to the increased demand for supply chain engineering tasks that focus on the use of big data analytics and artificial intelligence as well as rules, algorithms and simulations. The aim of the consulting services is to design the most effective supply chain automation possible without compromising on delivery capability, sustainably low inventories, throughput and productivity. In addition to these automated effects, customers benefit above all from the drastically reduced planning effort and correspondingly lower costs.
Prof. Kemmner, Co-Managing Director of the Abels & Kemmner Group: “In supply chain management, our consulting services always focus on the interface between organizational processes and software support. In the future, there will continue to be both organizational and mathematical/software-related tasks. In recent years, however, mathematical methods and processes have become increasingly important – and artificial intelligence is just one element of many. This trend will continue to grow as we move towards the automation of the entire supply chain management. In order to securely position our group of companies for this increasingly automated future and to further expand our expertise in the field of supply chain engineering, which is heavily influenced by mathematics, we have founded the new subsidiary and, in Dirk Ungerechts, have gained a proven expert as a co-partner.”
On December 20, 2019, the company Abels & Kemmner GmbH Supply Chain Engineers was entered in the commercial register of the Aachen District Court as a subsidiary of the management consultancy Abels & Kemmner Gesellschaft für Unternehmensberatung GmbH. Dirk Ungerechts, a German-Dutch national, will become the operational managing director. With effect from December 20, 2019, he was appointed Managing Partner of Abels & Kemmner GmbH Supply Chain Engineers. The co-CEOs of the A&K Group, Prof. Dr. Götz-Andreas Kemmner and Dr. Bernd Reineke, are co-managing directors. Dirk Ungerechts studied econometrics at Tilburg University and completed his master’s degree in econometrics and supply chain management, also in Tilburg. After several years in supply chain software consulting, he took on leading roles in supply chain management, including in the pharmaceuticals segment at Johnson & Johnson and the Dutch Sligro Food Group (Fast Moving Consumer Goods). Most recently, he was Group Director Supply Chain Planning at the UK-based Low & Bonar Group, where he was responsible for group-wide supply chain planning and sales and operations planning for the entire group of companies. Dirk Ungerechts had already been working as a Principal in the A&K Group since October 2018 in preparation for the foundation and to familiarize himself with the company.
