Short and sweet: Leap-fixed batch size

It does not always make sense to increase or decrease batch sizes in increments of one. If there are 10 parts in a packaging unit, for example, it only makes sense to order quantities in increments of 10 to avoid having to tear open packs. The “fixed lot size”, referred to in DISKOVER as the “lot size increment”, is used for precisely this purpose. It defines the steps in which a batch size can change.

Our tip:

Correctly maintained fixed lot sizes are extremely important for smooth order processing. Do not confuse fixed lot sizes with minimum lot sizes and regularly check whether fixed lot sizes contain realistic values. In data analyses, we repeatedly come across values that lead to extremely high order lot sizes and, as a result, to correspondingly high inventory ranges.
