Detailed production planning systems – PP/DS for short – were created to plan the use of materials, people and machines above MES systems so that orders can be processed on time and as efficiently as possible. Artificial intelligence is now being used to automatically optimize this planning task, as Bernd Reineke, Managing Director of the specialist consulting firm Abels & Kemmner GmbH, explains.
